Thermiva Q&A

What is ThermiVa®?

ThermiVa is a non-surgical vaginal rejuvenation procedure that uses subtle bursts of radiofrequency energy to promote tissue regeneration and encourage collagen production.

The team at Comprehensive Urology uses ThermiVa to address the uncomfortable symptoms of urinary incontinence, but the treatment has additional benefits as well. They include:

  • Improved vaginal appearance
  • Improved lubrication
  • Enhanced orgasms
  • Better vaginal sensations.

Treatment with ThermiVa also strengthens your pelvic floor muscles and tightens your vagina.

What happens during a ThermiVa treatment session?

At Comprehensive Urology, the team conducts ThermiVa treatment onsite, as an outpatient procedure. Because the treatment is entirely non-invasive, you don’t have to worry about incisions, sutures, or a lengthy recovery period. Following your ThermiVa session, you can return to regular activity right away, including sexual intercourse.

Each treatment session lasts for about 30 minutes. Your Comprehensive Urology provider points an “S” shaped handheld device at your vaginal tissues during your appointment. The device emits thermistor-regulated radiofrequency energy, which gently heats the skin of your vagina, causing it to contract and become tighter.

How many ThermiVa treatments will I need?

To achieve the best possible results, the team at Comprehensive Urology recommends a series of three ThermiVa treatments spaced one or two months apart. That said, most women experience a significant improvement in urinary incontinence symptoms after just one session.

After completing an entire round of ThermiVa treatment, you can expect your results to last for nine months to two years. To maintain your results, the team recommends you participate in follow up care every one or two years.

Am I a good candidate for ThermiVa treatment?

Only a qualified medical professional, like those at Comprehensive Urology, can determine if you’re a good candidate for ThermiVa treatment. However, if you’re over the age of 18, have given birth to one or more children vaginally, or are nearing menopause, you probably qualify.

You might also want to consider ThermiVa if you regularly experience symptoms such as vaginal dryness and itching, painful intercourse, lack of sensation during sex, or frequent urinary tract infections.

Don’t let urinary incontinence or sexual problems prevent you from living your best life. To schedule your ThermiVa appointment at Comprehensive Urology, call the office or book online today.
